Tangled up in blue
A harrowed mind, a harried heart
For I stare at the temporal bars
Of my carnal cage
Reflecting at the bounds of life
I yearn for only a way to escape.
There may be naught beyond, I may never know,
But there was a lot before, or I would cease to be.
Breaking free from my own clutches, I let go.
For life is most at the end of its tether
My heart palpitates, my breathing stops
Yet I am alive because I am free.
For I am flying from this empty rock
Soaring above the vacuous cage,to see what is beyond,
For there may be clouds above, yet it is the sky.
